Who Is This Jesus?

Jesus lived a remarkable life. History records the fact. The Bible gives proof (John 3:16) that Jesus was God's Son and was sent to this earth for a very specific purpose. Matthew 1:21 says, "...You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins." He was truly God in human flesh. His friend Peter once declared for all the world to hear, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16).

My friend, Jesus loves you. He wants to help you--whatever your situation, whatever your heartache, your struggles, the habits that bind you. Here is a positive message of comfort and strength: "You cannot atone for your past sins; you cannot change your heart and make yourself holy. But God promises to do all this for you through Christ. You believe that promise. You confess your sins and give yourself to God. You will to serve Him. Just as surely as you do this, God will fulfill His word to you. If you believe the promise--believe that you are forgiven and cleansed--God supplies the fact; you are made whole...." (Steps to Christ, p. 50).

Hope, joy, and peace can be yours for the asking: "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13).

One young person gave this testimony that comes right from the heart and should be a challenge to us as we contemplate knowing Jesus better. "I hope that the people will get to know Jesus intimately--on a practical, authenic level. I want them to know that he--God--is the hero; He is the good guy in the Old Testament and in our world today. I want them to know that He is there for them right now in any situation they face, that He gives them exactly what they need to come through it with peace, power, and ultimate success. I want all of us to fall passionately and eternally in love with Jesus."

Friend, when you accept Jesus into your life, all eternity is yours. The Bible promises: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved,..." (Acts 16:31).

God is offering you His love today. It can be yours, just ask for it!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
and the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end,
upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
to order it and establish it with judgment and justice
from that time forward, even forevermore.
--Isaiah 9:6, 7
